As another great year of producing world class animation draws to a close, we hope you enjoy some of our best work.  And for the especially nerdy bunch – we’ve detailed some of the scenes we really like and the production process.

One of our favorite clips is this one – an excerpt from a lipid based drug delivery technology for a small biotech company. We really wanted to show the way in which the endosome is delivered into the cell in a visually compelling scene as this is one of the key elements of the technology. The following scene, where the endosome ruptures and releases its contents is a relatively difficult one from an animation standpoint, the challenge being to make the rupture appear natural and not overly dramatic. Fun fact, the narrator on this is our very own Project Manager, Jen Hughes. She originally recorded the scratch track and the client actually preferred this to the professional narrator as it had a more academic feel to it. a new star is born!

This mesmerising visual of e neuromuscular junction is one of our stellar works of 2017. This clip comes out of a project we completed recently for a biotech company with a new treatment for pain relief that is opioid free -. a topic that is front and center in healthcare today. We wanted to have a nice depth effect to show the relative scale of the axon terminals to the muscular fiber. The second clip below is how it appears in the storyboarding phase, to give you a window into the process.

Sometimes we get a chance to work on visuals that are not 100% medical but tell a story in a completely different field. Working with our agency partners, we created this piece that equated threats to our immune system to security threats in cyberspace. Towards the second half of this clip you can see how we’ve adapted our visuals to an imagined cyberworld. Our animators love the chance to be challenged with new visuals and push their capabilities. Did we mention that this project was completed beginning to end in 45 days?

An excerpt from a piece we did about the tear film and the causes of dry eye is a much-discussed clip in our offices Universally our folks at office love the colors and the serene movement of the microvilli. The movement on the microvilli is especially challenging, to create a natural flowing wave in a sea of tears. Maybe it’s the poetry of it all that gets to us. Here’s an excerpt..

What a great year 2017 has been for us. We hope you enjoyed looking at some of these clips as much as we did creating them. A big thank you to all of our clients, friends, family and supporters! Looking forward to some more great work in 2018 and making you look good.
